Pink Movie Review
Greatness is an exponential function of talent and time in
mathematical terms . This has been more than established yet again by the
Shehanshah of Celluloid Big B in the movie Pink . Yet another cracker of
performance by the genius after Piku .
Sir Vivian Richards used to own the park once he was out in
the cricket field with his deadly weapon –the cricket bat . The same is true of
Big B . He rules the space , the surrounding , the mind and mood of the movie
watchers with his mesmerizing methods .
Pink is easily one of the best movies made in the recent
memory . Indian society’s biases & prejudices against womenfolk , its false
notions and assumptions has been wonderfully captured in the movie .
Stereotyping an independent party-goer working urban middle-class woman as footloose
has long been the bane of our mediaeval feudal social system and there have
been repeated attempts to justify this within and outside Indian courtrooms
through means –fair and foul , thereby indirectly encouraging and abetting the
rogue elements and goons within our system .
The movie captures the sense of helplessness and resignation
among the victimised girls in the face of a compromised police investigation and
unfriendly and judgmental neighbourhood . The ageing frail idiosyncratic lawyer
in Amitabh Bachchan brings justice with his soul-stirring dialogues and
narrations . There are many moments in the movie that will bring tears to a
conscientious soul .
The movie is a big tight slap on the faces of contractors of
so-called false morality and certainly deserves to be India’s Oscar entry this
year .
